What is the Austin Gives Pledge?

Austin Gives is a free program initiated by the Austin Chamber, dedicated to promoting, educating, and empowering business philanthropy in the Austin region. Members commit to pledging 1% of their profits, products or services, and/or volunteer time to causes they care about. The program is inclusive, welcoming both small family businesses and large corporations.

The program celebrates the generosity of businesses in the Austin area. Austin Gives members enjoy various networking opportunities, engaging programs throughout the year, and an invitation to the prestigious Austin Gives Awards. This signature event recognizes nominees for their outstanding generosity.

Business philanthropy is highlighted as essential for a company’s brand perception and attractiveness to customers, employees, and investors. In today’s socially conscious business environment, demonstrating a commitment to purpose alongside profit is expected. Purpose-driven companies experience higher employee retention, faster brand value growth, and increased appeal to investors. The belief is that doing good is not only beneficial for business but also for the community.

Austin Gives operates as a voluntary program with no cost to participants. Businesses of all sizes are invited to pledge 1% or more of their pre-tax earnings, products or services, or volunteer time to causes of their choice. Members receive a badge for their company website and social media. The program encourages companies to renew their commitment on an annual basis, emphasizing the ongoing impact of philanthropy.

How much did IREP give in the Austin area?

At IREP Junk Removal, we are not just in the business of cleaning up spaces; we’re committed to making a positive impact on the community and the environment. As proud members of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, we have embraced the Austin Gives program, aligning with our mission to recycle everything possible and contribute to a cleaner and more prosperous future.

In 2023 alone, IREP demonstrated its dedication by donating over $11,000 in money and item value, alongside $1,600 in labor value—equating to an impressive over 2% donation. This commitment extends beyond financial contributions, with our item donations playing a pivotal role in diverting over 2 tons of waste from landfills.

Our outreach extends far and wide. Through our 1st Annual Junk ‘N Jam live event, we raised funds for ATX Kids Club and Joshua’s Stage, showcasing our commitment to supporting local organizations. Additionally, we proudly sponsored the Heart Walk for The American Heart Association, and in collaboration with other local businesses, we crafted a cookbook to further contribute to community causes.

Where did IREP give locally?

IREP’s donations reached various organizations, including Austin Pets Alive Thrift, St. Vincent’s Thrift Store, Austin Children’s Theatre, Central Texas Table of Grace, Thrift Town, Small Middle School, Foundation Communities – Zilker Studios, Joshua’s Stage and Sunrise Community Church’s Navigation Center.

Our labor donations spanned projects with the American Heart Association, Central Texas Table of Grace, Joshua’s Stage, Foundation Communities Zilker Studios property, and ATX Kids Club.

Why does this fuel our mission?

IREP has three top goals in our mission.

  1. Help save the world by recycling everything possible.
  2. Educate as many people as we can on the importance of recycling.
  3. Support our local community.

Donating items plays a pivotal role in diverting over 2 tons of waste from landfills. Recycling at its finest.

Our commitment to education is evident through numerous operations: Hosting field trips with ATX Kids Club, where we imparted valuable lessons about recycling. At Small Middle School, wood furniture items provided by IREP became platforms for creative hands-on student work projects. Staff presenting on a Career Day at Naumann Elementary. Aslan, our Sales & Marketing Director, has even created numerous “Recycling Tip” videos to help educate everyone willing to watch and listen.

Everything given has been to support local charities, organizations, schools, people, and businesses. Outside of this, we’re always offering referrals to local businesses that can handle almost any home or business situation. Even if someone reaches out to us for a job we can’t handle, we give a local referral.

We do our best to post about all these things on our social platforms. Follow us somewhere or join our newsletter we’ll start sending out in January 2024.

What does the future hold?

As we embrace the Austin Gives pledge, we eagerly anticipate exceeding our 1% revenue donation goal again in 2024. This program is the perfect avenue for us to showcase our dedication to recycling everything possible while simultaneously supporting the local community. At IREP, we believe that through purposeful actions, we can be heroes in our community, contributing to a cleaner, greener, and more compassionate world for generations to come. Join us on this journey towards a sustainable future!
